Off The Couch Games LLC is committed to making our website and in-person experiences as accessible and welcoming as possible. This statement describes our current accessibility practices, what we have verified, what we know still falls short, and how to request accommodations or report a barrier.

Website Accessibility

Our goal is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA on offthecouchgames.com. The site was last audited on October 6, 2026 with automated WCAG 2.1 A/AA checks on every page at desktop and mobile widths, plus manual keyboard testing. The site currently provides:

Text that meets the 4.5:1 minimum contrast ratio against its background (3:1 for large text), including footer and legal text.
Descriptive alt text on photographs and meaningful images, and empty alt attributes on decorative artwork and icons.
Full keyboard access: a "Skip to content" link, keyboard-operable menus (including the Experiences dropdown), the mobile menu, the FAQ accordion, the cookie preferences dialog, and the interactive Asheville map. Map locations are buttons, the chapter tabs and arrow buttons move between chapters, the left and right arrow keys step through chapters, and the polaroid can be flipped with a keyboard.
Semantic structure on every page: one main landmark, one level-one heading, and a logical heading order.
Accessible names on controls, including the navigation dropdown, cookie consent dialog, FAQ accordion, map markers, and embedded booking and map frames.
A responsive layout that works at phone widths from 320 pixels and at 200% browser zoom without horizontal scrolling.
Respect for the "reduce motion" operating-system setting: page reveals, the neon sign flicker, the map glide and other decorative animation are disabled when it is on. No content flashes more than twice in any one-second period.

Accessibility is ongoing work. We re-audit the site when pages change and welcome reports of anything we have missed.

In-Person Experience Accessibility

Our physical location at 555 Mowry Ave, Fremont, CA 94536 includes:

Street-level entry with no steps to the main lobby.
Free accessible parking available in our on-site lot.
Accessible restrooms on the premises.

Our games are immersive and theatrical. They use dim or changing lighting, sound effects and hands-on props, and there is no time limit, so every group plays at its own pace. You are never locked in and may leave a game at any time. Known Limitations

The following are specific, verified gaps. We list them so you know what to expect and how to work around them:

Third-party content. Booking and gift-card checkout (offthecouch.io), the Google Maps embeds on the Visit and Contact pages, and the YouTube video on the home page are provided by third parties inside frames. Their interfaces follow those providers' accessibility practices. If you have trouble booking online, call (408) 478-2341 and we will book for you.
Hidden puzzle marks. The website contains an optional hidden puzzle. Its clue marks are intentionally faint until revealed and are a visual game rather than site content; they are excluded from assistive technology and are not needed to book, visit, or contact us.
The hidden game page. The puzzle's game page relies on dragging and rotating objects with a pointer and is not fully operable by keyboard or screen reader. It is an Easter egg and is not linked from the site's navigation.
