Persons of Interest · Chapter 02
Mayor John Norcross
Mayor of Asheville. Owner, Norcross Art Gallery.
John Norcross
OfficeMayor of Asheville. Took office a few months ago.
FamilyThe Norcross family has been in Asheville for generations. They own the Norcross Art Gallery.
StatusActive in public life. Popular. The gallery has been closed to the public since he took office.
SummaryNorcross campaigned on a single line — “Together we can save the world” — and won comfortably. He is credited with a great deal of good here, and there is no public record of anything to the contrary. There is only this: the leads left behind in Occam’s apartment point to the Norcross Art Gallery, and Occam’s files return to the Mayor again and again without ever saying why.
Known associationsDetective William Occam (deceased) maintained a persistent, unexplained interest in the Mayor. Any connection to the figure Occam privately called “the Evil Genius” is unverified.

Norcross Gallery Stays Dark
The Norcross Art Gallery has not opened to the public since John Norcross took office. The family has given no reason and filed no explanation.
The Mayor remains among the most popular figures in Asheville, elected on a promise that together we can save the world. Supporters called the closure sad but unsurprising, given the demands of the office.
City Hall says the Mayor’s schedule is unchanged. Someone is still paying the power bill. The building stands dark.
