Since the day she vanished, the lights in Asheville have behaved strangely — something the Mayor has acknowledged in public. Her parents were not satisfied with the search. They hired a private investigator, William Occam. He was still working her case when he died.

The Asheville Ledger
Still No Trace of Missing Girl
Weeks after she was last seen at the Asheville Public Library, there is still no trace of the ten-year-old known to neighbors as Nina.
What began as a routine missing-child case has taken on a stranger character. Since the afternoon she vanished, residents across several blocks report the city’s lights flickering in patterns — the same hour, night after night.
The family has retained a private investigator. Police have not connected the phenomena to the disappearance, and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
She walked in. She didn’t walk out. And the whole town started flickering.
